We believe that a teacher should be engaging, attentive, kind, and knowledgeable.
- Instruction should center around the student's needs and abilities.Students are all different and come from various backgrounds, cultures, and experiences. Classroom experiences should reflect on the students experiences and their own world knowledge. This type of instruction allows the students to be a part of learning by using their ideas and thoughts to answer real world problems.
- If a teacher is structured and can engage all types of students then they are effective in their instruction.
- Being attentive to students needs allows a teacher to know when the students are learning and when they are struggling. Attentive teachers are aware of their classroom needs and are willing to meet them.
- Caring and kindness are also admirable traits in at teacher. Being caring allows students to be able to look to a teacher for direction without fearing the repercussions. Kindness shows them that you are compassionate to their differences and skill sets.
- Knowledgeable teachers KNOW their material. They are experts in their area and if they don’t know the answer then they know where to look to find it. Students should trust what their teachers are saying and can use that knowledge as foundation for future learning.
