The daily schedule may change to accommodate weather, but activities will remain constant even if times change.
8:30-8:50 Choosing Time- Students may engage in an activity of their choice which may include dramatic play, art, or a variety of other educational activities. This time will allow for social interaction and creativity development.
8:50-9:10 Circle Time- First students participate in music and movement through songs, rhymes, and dancing. We will then transition into other circle time activities by looking at the calendar and weather. We will end by practicing our Spanish and Sign Language vocabulary .
9:10-9:45 Literacy Development- Students begin 'pre-reading' by learning letters, blends, and simple sight words. Students learn to handle books correctly and gently. Concepts are reinforced through read-alouds, songs, and chants. Activities are divided between whole group and small group instruction.
9:45-10:00 Wash hands and have snack.
10:00-10:15 Outdoor Recess
10:15-10:45 Math Concepts- Students learn beginning math such as numbers, one-to-one correspondence, counting and beginning addition and subtraction.
10:45-11:20 Story Time and Theme projects- Students listen to a story relating to our classroom theme and complete projects. The projects incorporate many different educational outlets including gardening, science, cooking, or art.
11:20-11:30 Clean up and say goodbye
